Veil of Mist Warp
Note: This page describes a glitch, trick, or exploit. To see others, click here.
Explanation
By doing a very specific Powerslash you warp to the pot which contains mist, skipping getting the key to enter the treasure room. This trick has been patched in the 2017 remasters.
How it works (NG+)
The rope for the pot can be cut from any distance. This was probably done because the distance from the rope was too large so they changed it so the pot was loaded from the very beginning, rather than when you get close. So by angling your camera to a very specific angle and powerslashing in the right spot you can cut down the pot. Since cutting the pot triggers a cutscene where the camera is focused on Issun, Ammy is repositioned. Putting you right next to the flask.
Patch
This glitch was patched in the 2017 remasters by making the flask unresponsive to Power Slash until Ammy has watched the cutscene which plays after entering the flask room. Because NG categories are run on these versions, this trick cannot be used to save time in NG All Brushes or Top Dog.

History
This glitch was first discovered accidentally by Kwanzai and posted about in the SDA thread on 04 November 2012: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/okami_ps2_45.html#okami_ps2_45:
- [...]I'm not a speed runner (yet), but I found something you guys might find interesting. I was just playing through Okami HD casually the other day and ran into a glitch which allowed me to skip a small dialogue cutscene as well as teleport a short distance. Not sure if anyone has found this yet. After using the key in minified Emperor's Palace, I used bomb on the ground crack then power slashed nearby while the bomb was still out. This cut the rope on the mist jar and teleported me over to the corresponding cutscene. The cherry bomb probably had nothing to do with it, but haven't gotten to do any testing either.
