Explanation

Normally, when Ammy walks or runs off a ledge (which has no walls around it) she will "slip off" and become airborne, with a distinct animation. She will immediately lose most of her horizontal momentum and be unable to double jump, though she can still air tackle. This can sometimes also occur when dashing quickly over a sharp hill, bump, or crest, where her momentum will cause her to launch into the air a short distance. In both cases, this is undesirable due to the loss in speed and actionability.

In certain cases, when going over a crest, instead of losing her momentum like usual, she will instead keep it, but still appear to go into a "slipped off ledge" animation. However, she will maintain her ability to ground jump (and subsequently double jump, if Holy Eagle is acquired) in mid-air, regardless of how far above the ground she is. This state is called Ground Jump Storage (GJS) and can be used to travel farther distances in certain cases.

Demonstrations:

If you land from a GJS state without having jumped, Ammy's Dash Meter will be reset to Green Dash.

The exact conditions for GJS to activate are not known, but higher speeds seem to make it more common, so ZR may contribute. The crest needs to be steep/sharp enough to launch Ammy into the air, but if it's too sharp Ammy will just lose her speed and jumps like normal.

Applications

A GJS can be performed to cross the Narai River in Agata Forest in New Game categories. This is called DR Move.

History

This glitch was first described by Auride on 21 May 2021, when they discovered it while experimenting with hacked high movement speeds via Cheat Engine:

It looks like there's at least some cases where, when you run over the crest of an object and become airborne, you can still use your ground jump, but only after you begin falling. In these cases, the game retains the "grounded" value (0) for this bitfield I've been talking about, as opposed to the "slipped off collision" value (0x16)

The first useful application, DR Move, was discovered by RiftyRTA on 16 Feb 2025: https://youtu.be/QSTVySnUhGA
