If she's hit by an enemy's attack within a short period afterwards, both will be momentarily frozen, then Ammy will launch up into the air while with the enemy before landing with a suplex. This deals a large amount of damage (over 6.6x as much as a main Reflector ground attack) and causes the enemy to drop a demon fang (but only the first time that enemy gets suplexed). Both Ammy and the enemy are invulnerable during the full counter animation. This works the same in the air and on the ground. The aerial version stalls Ammy's vertical momentum (though she falls slowly during it) and she is prevented from becoming grounded. | In the air or on the ground, pressing the sub attack button while a Reflector is equipped as the sub weapon results in Ammy stopping in place and throwing the Reflector out in front of her to perform a parry/counter. Many enemies are immune to the sub reflector counter. You can still activate it on their attacks, which will negate any damage and knockback the attack would cause, but no suplex will occur. | |||

Explanation
There are a wide variety of methods Ammy can use to deal damage to enemies. Dealing damage reduces an enemy's Health. If you deal damage to an enemy causing their health to drop to 0 or negative, they will die. This page explains in detail how the game calculates the amount of damage Ammy deals to an enemy in combat.
For information on how to practically and efficiently defeat enemies, see Fight Strategies. For information on how much Health each enemy has, and their various damage multipliers, see Enemy Data For information about how Ammy takes damage, see Health.
Divine Instruments
Ammy's Divine Instruments (DIs) are the main and sub-weapons (SW) she wields on her back. Pressing the main or sub attack buttons causes Ammy to do an animation to strike with the DI. During part of this animation, the weapon will have a hitbox. Enemies hit by it will take damage.
If Ammy is under the effects of Steel Fist Sake, all DIs deal double damage.
While the game does support each enemy type having an individual damage multiplier for Divine Instrument damage, it is set to x1.0 for all enemies, meaning DIs should deal the same amount of damage to each enemy if they are vulnerable, before other multipliers like taking bonus damage while gray.
For each of the 3 weapon types, there is a programmed base damage for grounded main weapon attacks, aerial main weapon attacks, grounded sub weapon attacks, and aerial sub weapon attacks. Then, each tier of weapon within each type has its own damage multiplier relative to that base damage, which applies to each of those attack types. If the weapon is gilded with Gold Dust, the tier multiplier is increased (though always less than the multiplier for the next weapon tier, i.e. a gilded weapon is always still weaker than the next upgraded weapon.). The tier multiplier for a non-gilded tier 1 weapon is always x1.0, meaning they deal the base damage.
Reflectors
Reflectors are the most straightforward weapon type. The first and only weapon Ammy starts with at the beginning of a new file is the weakest Reflector, Divine Retribution. All tiers of Reflector behave identically during their attacks, only dealing more damage for higher tiers. The highest tier Reflector, Solar Flare, also acts as a fire source for Inferno.
Main Reflector ground attacks
As a main weapon, on the ground, Ammy can swing the Reflector repeatedly in a 3 hit combo. The swings are relatively short-ranged and can only hit each enemy once, but can hit multiple enemies throughout the swing. Any of the hits can be cancelled by jumping out of them. The maximum combo length can be increased to 4 and 5 by learning the 4 Winds and 5 Winds dōjō techniques, respectively. Each hit deals the same amount of damage.
Main Reflector air attacks
In the air, using the main weapon Reflector attack results in Ammy performing a front flip while staying completely stalled in mid-air, swinging the Reflector in front of her in a full vertical circle. This can be done a maximum of 3 times (with a short stall between attacks 2 and 3), regardless of the unlocked dōjō techniques. Each of the air attacks can hit a single enemy twice (hitting both at the very beginning and end of the attack), though it's extremely difficult to land all 6 hits, usually reaching a maximum of 5 hits per air combo. Main Reflector air attacks deal a little over 23% more damage than ground attacks.
When the only available weapon is a Reflector, a large amount of damage can be dealt in a relatively short time by performing 3 ground attacks, jump cancelling the final one, and performing 3 air attacks. This is a useful strategy when fighting Blight on the Ark of Yamato in NG Any%.
Sub Reflector attacks
In the air or on the ground, pressing the sub attack button while a Reflector is equipped as the sub weapon results in Ammy stopping in place and throwing the Reflector out in front of her to perform a parry/counter.
Many enemies are immune to the sub reflector counter. You can still activate it on their attacks, which will negate any damage and knockback the attack would cause, but no suplex will occur.
