Explanation
Holding the Fleetfoot button while in gold dash will result in Ammy's Horizontal Speed being hard-locked to approximately 6.9, regardless of how sharply she turns or whether she is moving up or down a slope. This works even if Ammy hasn't learned Fleetfoot (which is actually preferable, to avoid the possibility of actually using Fleetfoot). This is called ZR because Fleetfoot is bound to the ZR button by default on the Switch version.
If Ammy is not moving down a sufficiently steep slope (or preserving elevated speed via Slope Hopping), it is generally faster to use ZR at all times.
Ammy will reach full speed from a Dash Restore almost immediately when holding ZR, even if she hit the ground with little or no speed. This can make certain tricks easier by allowing Ammy to have more speed in a confined space than she otherwise would.
Using ZR at any point during Gold Dash will also set her Dash Meter value to 500, even if it was set to 0 by running into a wall (fake dash), as long as she is not currently running into a wall. ZR has no effect while in Green Dash, though.
Applications
ZR is broadly applicable as a small speed boost. Various tricks can be made slightly faster or more lenient by using it, e.g. Nechku Skip, NG Ryo Gate Skip, Ice Ball Skip, etc.
